Environment
A fully sustainable industry is one that has zero impact on the environment or ideally, a positive impact on the environment
and local community.
In 2003 Scottish Leather Group established a ‘zero waste policy’ and this goal to maintaining a sustainable business
remains unchanged.
The Group’s continuous investment towards zero waste provides year on year reduction in our
impact and is exemplified by the production of
Low Carbon Leather and detailed in our published Annual Sustainability
Report.
The on-site waste is being eliminated through efficient resource use, segregation of waste into recyclable categories and
thereafter energy recovery.
Scottish Leather Group also set ambitious targets to recycle waste and avoid landfill within our
published waste policy and set objectives to decarbonise
leather production. This has meant we now set standards within
the global leather industry for low carbon, sustainable manufacturing.
The environmental impact of Scottish Leather Group is managed and reported collectively by SLG Technology for external
analysis. ISO 14001:2004 standard is
integrated into our management philosophy and exemplified within these
investments and practices. SLG Technology also recently led the group accreditation
to ISO 50001:2011.
